MARKETING STRATEGIST

Primary Accountability

 Provides communications to the Executive Director,  Management Team, Board of Directors and the community to effectively promote understanding, awareness and effectiveness of Advance services and programs.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

The Marketing Strategist is responsible for providing expert health promotion and health marketing strategies and partner relations development to Advance through its programs and partnerships.

As an organization whose mission is to improve community health, Advance’s Marketing Strategist  must have experience in both public health and communications domains, with preference for demonstrated skill in:
  • participatory processes for health marketing, 
  • peer-health models for health behavior change, and 
  • culturally competent marketing for rural communities and vulnerable populations. 

In addition, the Director must be competent in managing an array of diverse and dynamic communications formats, including: digital media and platforms, radio ad buys, audio recording and broadcast, planning live events, and coordinating mixed media dissemination. 

Primary responsibilities
  • Plan, develop, implement, and evaluate message strategies that meet
Advance mission and goals
  • Provide marketing expertise in the development and
implementation of printed and online publications, websites, presentations, and
collateral materials
  • Partner with organizations and online partners to develop effective and cost-efficient
opportunities for message planning, research, message development, and message
delivery
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with partners, contractors, and
stakeholders
  • Develop strategy, content, and workflow for various digital media outlets
  • Plan and coordinate community events in service of Advance’s programs and mission
  • Ensure communication activities are based on accepted principles, methods, and best
practices in public health communications and social marketing.
  • Complete assigned contract deliverables, within established
timeframes
  • Manage project work, as needed, including quality assurance and deliverable
compliance
  • Develop and manage the organization’s website and social media presence
  • Attend internal and external meetings as requested
  • Collaborate with finance and data and reporting to prepare reports

Technical Skills

  1. Ability to prepare more complex documents using computers, including creating tables, charts, graphs and other elements.
  2. Ability to use computers to analyze data, including the use of formulas, functions, lookup tables and other standard spreadsheet elements.
  3. Ability to develop sophisticated presentations using computers, including the use of embedded objects, transitions and other elements.
  4. Ability to create, send and manage email.
  5. Ability to access web based applications and other computer programs.

Work Environment 

Work is performed in a variety of settings, including at least one day a week on site.
